Karl Edward Leason passed away July 2, 2019. Karl was born on January 1, 1947 in Salida, CO, to Emory and Grace Leason. He attended Adams State College and Southern Colorado State College, graduating with a degree in K-12 Music Education and a minor’s degree in Biology. He taught K-12 Music in 1970 in the LaVeta School District and retired in 2003 after 32 years with the RE2 Florence School District. He taught Band and Choir, Current Events, Science and Music Design and Theory.
Several summers he was a Co-Director and Manager of the Denver Mile High Symphonic Band and Choirs touring Europe with over 300 hundred students from Colorado and surrounding areas.
He was an original member of the Colorado High School Athletic Association (CHSAA). In 2015 he was selected into the Canon City Music & Blossom Festival Alumni Hall of Fame.
He married Marie Falgien in July 1969.
He is survived by his wife, Marie; his little buddy, Kobi, his sister Janet Bahner of Colorado Springs, several nieces and nephews and many friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Kenneth F. Leason; and his grandparents Ozzie and Ruby Cooley and Della and Fred Leason.
