Adolph Koroshetz

Adolph Joseph John Koroshetz passed away peacefully on Friday May 12, 2026 at 90 years old, surrounded by family and friends. He was born February 8, 1936 to Adolph Mark and Isabelle Jesse Formolo in Leadville, Colorado. Dolph was the 2nd of 3 boys - Lou the oldest and Robert ( Bobby) the youngest, both passed on before.

Dolph was baptized, received 1st Holy Communion and Conformation at the Annunciation Catholic Church in Leadville, which his father, helped renovate. He served as an alter boy and continued to be a devout Christian all his life. Dolph went to St Mary's Catholic School 1st -8th grades excelling in academics and theater, getting to be Tiny Tim and a Wise Man in plays. He continued to Leadville High School 9th -12th grades, participating in academics, baseball, basketball and track, lettering in track and academics. Dolph graduated high school with honors in 1954, starting college at Regis College in Denver, Colorado, majoring in science, mathematics, art and business. He transferred to Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska to pursue Pharmacy. Dolph went into the Academic Fraternity, Phi Delta Chi and gained the honors of Rho Chi and Alpha Sigma Nu, graduating with honors in 1959. He continued his education at conventions and classes and became well versed in supplements and methods for people with allergies and unusual conditions.

Deciding to go back to Leadville to practice pharmacy, Dolph took a job at Sayer and McKee Pharmacy.  Dolph became an active member of the Elks, a Knight of Columbus 4th degree and was a member of the Colorado Pharmaceutical Association for many years. After a time, Dolph decided to go into business as part owner and pharmacist, with his brother, Lou and I.A. Taylor at the T and K Drug Store in Leadville, where he met Phyllis Trevethan.

Phyllis and Dolph started long distance dating as she was getting her teaching and social service degrees in Gunnison, Colorado. Dolph proposed on Halloween of 1966 and they were married February 4th, 1967 at the Annunciation Church in Leadville. Shortly after, they moved to Sterling, Colorado, where he worked as a lead pharmacist at Brown's Pharmacy.

They tried hard to have children and on October 9, 1968, Ann Marie was born to them. They decided to move to Canon City in 1971, where Dolph took a job at St Thomas More Hospital and The Palace Drug Store as a Pharmacist. Dolph went full time at the hospital and worked 48 years, 20 of them as lead pharmacist. Dolph made many friends there and walked a block to work, which helped when he had to go out on call for emergencies. Dolph retired at age 66 from full time work, but continued on part time until he turned 73 years old and had to fully retire for health reasons. He was active in art and won many awards for his paintings, drawings and scratch art. Dolph loved to read, do cross word puzzles and build legos. He almost collected the entire collection of Dr Suess.

Dolph was fond of traveling for vacations, family and class reunions and holiday gatherings. He could be the life of the party. Dolph loved seeing museums, the Air and Space Museum at the Smithsonian being one of his favorites. Dolph enjoyed swimming at Glenwood and the Salida pools. He was excited to get to go to Legoland, Suessland, Disney Land, and Disney World to ride It's a Small World and see the Main St Electrical Parade several times. Dolph was honored to go to Rome Italy and see the Pope in person, see many of the National and State Parks, go to Hawaii, Washington DC, Branson, Missouri and many cities and states.  He loved to hike and have picnics at Red Canon Park. Dolph found the cruises to Alaska and the northeastern lighthouses exquisite.

Dolph loved to watch sports, play board games, card games, and puzzles. He adored playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren - there were few birthdays, graduations, games, recitals or family functions he missed, until he was homebound in 2014.

Dolph is survived by his wife Phyllis of 59 years, his daughter, Ann Marie and son in law, Brian Carlson; grandchildren, Adolph (Rachel), Tyrel (Diana), Dartanian (Emily) and Julianna Carlson; great grandchildren, Alice, Marcus, Ronan, Arwen, Torvi, Avacyn, Cayden, Mira and Rinnley Carlson; sister in laws, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends. He will be greatly missed.

Services will be held Friday, June 12, 2026 at St Michael Catholic Church: 1016 Mystic Ave, Canon City, Colorado. Rosary will be at 9 a.m. and funeral mass at 10 a.m. There will be a livestream broadcast on St Michael's Facebook page. Condolences can be sent by mail to Phyllis.
