Alva Quintin (Whit) Whitledge passed away on October 31, 2023 in Canon City, CO. He was born on August 14, 1922 in Webster County, KY to Carvil and Corine (Villines) Whitledge. Whit enlisted in the Army on January 15, 1941, and served in Glider Troops, 17th Airborne Division. He also served in “Battle of the Bulge” in Belgium, and in Korea and Japan from 1952 to 1955. Whit served his country in the Army for 20 years, advancing through the ranks to the rank of Major. After his completion of military service in 1962, he worked for the Bureau of Land Management in Denver, CO. Whit then moved to Canon City, CO in 1995.
Whit is survived by his son, Donald (Patsy) Whitledge of Penrose, CO; granddaughter, Karla Peyton; and great-granddaughter, Hannah Peyton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Lucille Whitledge.
A graveside service with full military honors for Whit will be at 10a.m on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Mountain Vale Memorial Gardens: 1700 Chestnut St. in Canon City.
