Charles (Chuck) Thrailkill passed peacefully in his sleep on April 16th 2021. He was born June 8, 1935 to his parents, James and Billie Lorene Thrailkill Gilbert.
Chuck served his country during the Korean conflict and was honorably discharged from his military service. His early career was in construction. He moved on to a long career with Pittsburg Paint and Glass. He finished his work career in Canon City working for many years for the Canon City Daily Record newspaper in circulation.
Chuck called many places home during his lifetime including an extended stay in Guam enjoying the Island life. In the early 2000’s Chuck moved to Canon City to help care for his mother Billie Lorene.
Chuck will always be remembered as a fun-loving guy who always had a joke or a gag for you. His wit was very sharp and ready at a moments notice. When Chuck wanted to visit a sibling most times it was without much notice. On more than one occasion he arrived at the Tulsa airport and then would call his sister to come pick him up. He was truly one of a kind. Chuck was simple and easy going, give him a beer, Coors Light, and a cigarette, turn on the TV and he was set.
Chuck is survived by his four remaining siblings, brother Jim Thrailkill of Longmont, Colorado, Bob Thrailkill of Arizona, sister Gladys Dunbar of Sapulpa, Oklahoma and brother Ken Thrailkill and wife Sue of Iowa. His sister-in-law also survives him Jean (Bill) Thrailkill of Lamar, Colorado, along with numerous nieces and nephews and special friends John and Emily Arnold of Canon City, Colorado. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Billie Lorene Thrailkill Gilbert, and stepfather Frank Gilbert, his sister Barbara Bettger, her husband Ron Bettger, and one brother Bill Thrailkill.
The family would like to thank John and Emily Arnold for staying with Chuck and looking after him for these last several months insuring his well being and comfort.
Cheers! To Charlie Brown.
