Gloria Sausa Gaffney of Canon City, Colorado transitioned into eternal life on June 30, 2021 just weeks shy of her 95th birthday. Gloria was born on August 8, 1926, the last of 8 children of Samuel and Mabelle Sausa of Englewood, Colorado.
A talented vocalist, Gloria began performing at the age of four, which led to musical appearances as a young woman in off- Broadway productions in New York and in numerous other professional and community venues. In addition, she was a gifted painter/artist who turned her passion into a career as an agent for artists and the operator of a framing business. She also cherished her time as the owner of a clothing and gift shop.
Gloria’s greatest enjoyment was found in spending time with her family and extended family and she loved cooking, especially during the holidays. Her meals were a reflection of her immense pride for her Sicilian heritage.
She was also involved with various civic organizations such as Miss Rodeo Colorado, Mrs. Colorado and Drums Along the Rockies. She donated her time to numerous school and church fundraisers and volunteered as an art teacher. In her spare time Gloria loved to read and passed along that love to her children and grandchildren.
Gloria is survived by her children: A. Robin (Bobbi) Gaffney, of Naperville, Illinois; Gregory (Lorri) Gaffney, of Canon City/The Villages, Florida; Timothy (Beth) Gaffney, of Canon City; grandchildren, Vinessa (Brian), Lauren (Shane), Tayler (Michael), Josh (Mandy), Ginnie (Louie), and ten great grandchildren.
A combined Celebration of Life for Gloria and her husband Barney, who passed away in late December, will be held July 31st from noon to 3pm at the Rotary Pavilion in Centennial Park in Canon City.
