Joann Marguerite Hubbell of Canon City, CO died Tuesday, November 21, 2023. She was born in Appleton, WI on September 22, 1931, to Dallas and Gertrude Jansen. She was married to Robert Hubbell for 68 years, who passed on before her, in September 2022. Joann attended Appleton High school, in Appleton, WI, and went on to receive her undergraduate degree in Home Economics at University of Wisconsin. She married her high school friend, who became her sweetheart, Robert Newell Hubbell on August 14, 1954. They moved to California, where he served in the Navy and saw much of the Pacific while they were stationed in San Diego, CA. They had their first son, Scott David Hubbell while in San Diego, CA. Then they moved back to the Midwest and had their second son Brian Jansen Hubbell. They finally moved west to Colorado in 1968. After four years in Fort Collins and then four years in Grand Lake, they moved to Canon City, as Robert began a private practice in Counseling in 1976. Joann helped with the success of the counseling practice as they continued well into their seventies. They decided to retire and stay in Canon City. Joann loved the mountains of Colorado, and she loved spending time in church or in prayer groups serving others. She dearly loved the Lord with all her heart and loved to share her faith in Jesus. They also loved to travel and went all over the world, visiting Europe, Israel, Norway, Bolivia, and Costa Rica. Family meant the world to her and she is survived by her eldest son, Scott D. Hubbell and daughter-in-law, Janice (Havens) Hubbell of Lonetree, CO; and youngest son, Brian J. Hubbell and daughter-in-law, Susan (Mears) Hubbell of Castle Rock, CO; four grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Christ First Community Church (formerly First United Methodist Church) in Canon City on Saturday, December 2nd, 2023 at 11:00AM. The family thanks the staff at Legacy Center of Castle Pines and Bloom Hospice for their loving care.
