LG was born on January 10, 1929, in Las Animas, Colorado to Mable and Austin Oxford. L G passed away on March 12, 2024, peacefully in his home.
LG moved to Canon City as a child and together with his family ran the family grocery store, Oxford’s Market. He was passionate about Family and business and dedicated his life to both. LG and his wife, Dorothy, shared life together for 73 years and enjoyed work, family, and making lively memories along the way. LG had a gift with people and a knack for connecting with them. You were truly only a stranger once. LG loved Canon City and was proud to call it home. In his later years, he found great joy in having coffee with his friends and watching the construction in Canon City come together. He was sorry he couldn’t be a part of the excitement of “the build”. Today we celebrate a life well lived and a life well loved.
LG is survived by his daughters; Patricia Oxford and Tami Belsey, grandchildren; Jason Strubel, Ryan Strubel, Bryan Belsey, Zachary Belsey, Shane Belsey, Gailan VanMeter, Carrie VanMeter; 14 great-grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
LG is preceded in death by his loving wife Dorothy, his adored daughter; Pamela Loraine (Oxford) VanMeter and sister; Lavonne (Oxford) Bondurant.
A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, March 22, 2024, at Wilson Funeral Home, 1449 S. 9th Street, Canon City, CO 81212. Arrangements have been entrusted to Holt Family Funeral Home with online condolences at www.holtfamilyfuneralhomes.com
