Norma Costa Obituary

Norma Louise (Lou) Costa passed away May 14, 2021 after contracting COVID.

Lou was born in Los Angeles, California on May 28, 1937 to Lloyd Whitfield and Norma May (Squires) Cummings. Lou grew up in the Los Angeles area, but spent a lot of her youth during summer vacations in the Archer area of Idaho, where her mother's family resided.

On April 2, 1954, Lou married Orvin Eugene (Gene) Morris. That union produced 3 children:  Michael (Mickey), Jamie, and Randol Eugene (Randy) Morris. But the union was not to last. They divorced and Lou married Joseph R. (Joe) Costa on May 29, 1969. She inherited a girl, Diedra JoLynn, and a son, Joseph Manuel. On January 25, 1971, their son, Garrett Robert, was born to complete their family.

Joe had always said that when he retired, they would move from the Los Angeles area to Alaska (It was God's Country!). Lou told him to let God keep his country; she knew a better place to retire. So, in 1984, they moved to the Lyman area of Idaho where she lived until 2017. During her time in Idaho, she reconnected with family and made new friends. When Joe passed away, she moved to Colorado to be near her eldest daughter.

Lou is survived by her children, Mickey Wells of Colorado, Jamie (Michael) Murphy of California, Randy (Liz) Morris of Utah, and Garrett (Rhea) Costa of Idaho as well as her 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Since the death of her mother, Mickey has also passed and will be buried alongside her. She is preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

A graveside service and dedication will be held May 27, 2021 at Sutton Cemetery with a memorial lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Direct Relief to aid in the fight against COVID-19 worldwide.
