Rita Parsons Obituary

Rita Mae Parsons was born on June 9, 1939, to Mark and Martha Bongaarts in New Ulm, Minnesota. 

She attended 12 years of Catholic school at the Holy Trinity School.

After graduating in 1957, she was employed with the Citizens State Bank in New Ulm where she worked as a bank teller.  In 1959, she moved to Minneapolis and was employed with Farmers and Merchants Bank.

She married her loving and devoted husband of 61 years, Randy Parsons, on July 8, 1961, and resided in Courtland, Minnesota.

In 1966, Rita and Randy moved to Colorado and settled in Canon City.  They raised three wonderful children, Russell Parsons of Parker, Colorado; Stacy Berta (Dan) of Pueblo West, Colorado; and Daniel Parsons of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

She loved and cherished her five grandchildren: Megan Kardatzke (Corrigan), Colton Hopwood (Tiana), Andrew Parsons (Jennifer), Alexandra Parsons, Adam Parsons, and eight beautiful great-grandchildren.

Rita had many hobbies including crocheting, reading, sewing, bowling, and golf.

Rita is survived by two sisters: Ruthie Zangel and Rhoda Kerfeld, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; baby sister, Mary; and brothers-in-law, Lenny Sparacino, Ralph Boruch, and Robert Zangel.

Rita was an active member of St. Michaels Catholic Church for many years.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to EWTN Catholic Ministries, 5817 Old Leeds Road, Irondale, Alabama, 35210, or to St. Michaels Catholic Church in Canon City.

Services will be at St. Michael Catholic Church, Friday, September 16 at 10:00 am with entombment at Mountain Vale Cemetery.
