Rose Esquibel Obituary

Rose F. Esquibel went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 22, 2021. Rose was born to Albert and Beatrice Moore on September 29, 1927, in Chandler, Colorado.

She graduated from Florence High School in 1946, before marrying Benny Esquibel on September 9, 1947. Together they had four children; Toni Miner of Canon City, Colorado, Martha (Marty) Bellino of Florence, Colorado, Anthony (Glenette) Esquibel of Florence, Colorado, and Benny (Karen) Esquibel of Albuquerque, New Mexico. They raised their family together in Florence for 60 years until Benny (Snipe) passed away. Rose remained in the family home.

In 1945-1946 Rose played catcher on a lady’s fastpitch softball team called the Magnet with her sister, Cecilia, and several other ladies from the Florence area. They traveled all around Colorado playing ball together. Notably, Rose was a devoted Bronco fan, collecting all kinds of Bronco memorabilia that decorated the entire house. She never missed a game. She had an equal passion for watching her granddaughters on their swim teams and supporting the Florence Huskies.

She worked for many years in food service before going to work for Western Forge where she manufactured tools for 40 years before her retirement. Rose’s favorite pastime was watching the Broncos play football, but also playing Bingo, going to Cripple Creek, and gambling at some of the casinos in New Mexico. She also loved to crochet, her hands always busy making afghanis. She enjoyed being outside planting flowers, working in a garden. Rose had a passion for life.

Rose is survived by her children; Toni Miner and Anthony Esquibel, sister; Gerry Dupont, 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; Albert and Beatrice Moore, husband; Benny Esquibel, children; Marty Bellino and Benny Esquibel, and siblings; Johnny Moore, Lee Moore, Thelma Gonzales, and Cecilia Garcia.

A graveside service will be held at Lakeside Cemetery in Canon City on Monday, August 30, 2021, at 11:00 AM. A reception will follow at the Florence Elks Lodge 611 (131 E. Front St., Florence, Colorado).
