Royal Anderson passed away peacefully with his family present on September 28, 2020 and is now in heaven.
He was the 10th child of 11 children born to William and Ethel Anderson. He was born on June 10, 1925, in Canon City, Colorado and lived the majority of his life in Florence, Colorado, with the only exception being his service time in the US Coast Guard, from 1943 through 1946, one of the few remaining veterans of WWII.
He worked at the Pueblo Army Depot from 1955 through retirement. Upon retiring, he started his own small engine repair business and drove a school bus for the Florence school district.
He is survived by Donna Anderson, his wife of 67 years (married May 25, 1953); children, Debbie Anderson of Canon City, Mike Anderson (Jayne) of Sterling, Colorado; three grandchildren, Luda (Shawn) Anderson, Anya Hendrix (Chris), Daniel Anderson; four great-grandchildren, Ethan Anderson, Aleaha Anderson, Adelyn Sahadi, and Jenna Hendrix.
Royal loved to fish and enjoyed tying his own flies and making his own lures. He enjoyed spending time working with wood, making such things as quilt racks, shelves, clocks, toys, and many other items. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was an avid gardener, growing a wide range of vegetables and flowers and also enjoyed watching the deer that came into his back yard and the birds eating at his bird feeder. He loved reading, studying the Bible and reading his J. Vernon McGee Bible commentaries.
