On March 31, 2024, Thomas Joseph Forsythe went home to the Lord at the age of 83.
Tom was born in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada to John and Rita Forsythe on December 8, 1940.
In 1967, Tom honorably enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, where he worked as a mechanic. Tom was later deployed to Germany where he served his last years as a US Army serviceman. After his time in the military, Tom worked in construction, plumbing and heavy equipment. He was a master at fixing things and always took great pride in his hard work. He also had a great love for cooking.
In 1976, Tom moved his family to the great state of Colorado, where he fell in love with the mountains and catching trout in the lakes and streams.
In 1977, Tom raised his right hand and took the oath to become a US citizen. It was one of his proudest moments as he took great honor in his dual citizenship and being a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
One of Tom’s greatest joys was spending time with nature and walking his dog, Rita, at the riverwalk.
Tom is survived by his children: Dan Forsythe (Rod Houston) of Chicago, Illinois; Shawn (Lisa) Forsythe of Cañon City, Colorado; Christine (John) Solis of Florence, Colorado; grandchildren: Amber (Cole) Cheek of Florence, Colorado; Zachary (Hadlie) Solis of Lakewood, Colorado; Amy (Jason) Mullins of Florence, Colorado; Tyler Kuretich of Florence, Colorado; Preston Kuretich of Cañon City, Colorado; and six great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Shannon Copeland, and his beloved dog, Rita.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
